Taking a Step Ahead

In the past week, we had Zachary's first meeting for physical therapy. The therapist is a man named Clint who comes from the Naval Hospital to our little home, and will be coming every other week, for potentially a year, or as long as Zachary needs it. In 6 months they will reevaluate to see his progress, but the funny part is, now that this has finally been put into motion, Zachary is taking steps to improvement by himself already-- literally, STEPS! Just in the past month, Zachary has been pulling himself up using any tall surface frequently. He is even cruising along the furniture at a quick pace, and very carefully squatting to lower himself compared to just flopping down on his rear! And though he still won't do it with us, when our friend David came over the other night, Zachary walked holding onto just Davids hands!
We are so excited about his progress as I am sure you can imagine. I have begun to hope that maybe by 18 months he will be walking on his own, we have 3 months to go! Though there are still area that need work, Zachary continues to be at a loss as to how to sit himself up on his own when he is laying on the floor. He can do it in the crib using the rails to pull himself up, and he often attempts it when I am trying to change his diaper. Otherwise he regularly just stays where he is and cries and screams (when I don't come running) laying on the floor, unwilling to roll or even try by himself to get up. So there is still plenty for him to learn.

He has also added a few more teeth recently. He got all 4 of his incisors almost at once. They have cut through his gums, but still aren't completely in yet. This has been a point of much grumpiness around here recently, but I look forward to the teething drawing to a close, so my sweet boy can be a little more cheerful again!
